P03 - Detection and identification of protein-adducts from blood and tissue as systemic and local forensic biomarkers of exposure to inhalational toxicants
This project is focused on the development of modern forensic bioanalytical methods to prove intoxications by lethal and non-lethal poisons. Toxicants like the blister agent sulfur mustard, chlorine and tear gases form adducts with proteins. Following their isolation from body fluids or tissues and proteolysis novel biomarker peptides will be identified and detected by modern mass spectrometry-based methods.
