P02 - Evaluation of lung injury and inflammation induced by organophosphorus compounds using precision cut lung slices (PCLS)

Poisoning with organophosphorus compounds (OP), which include nerve agents and pesticides, represents a substantial threat. Yet, information on the molecular toxic mechanisms of OP pesticides, nerve agents and their co-formulated solvents in lung tissue are scarce. The aim of this project is to investigate OP poisoning in viable and functional lung tissue. In detail, we will investigate interactions of OP and co-formulated organic solvents in PCLS, study therapeutic interventions and investigate the underlying mechanisms.
