Unconscious Bias: How Cognitive Biases Shape Our Decisions

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026

Every day, we make countless decisions without realizing how much our unconscious mind influences us.

This workshop explores:

  • Why our brain takes shortcuts – and how this leads to biased thinking
  • How cognitive biases affect collaboration, evaluation, and teamwork
  • The role of structural bias in academic systems
  • Strategies to recognize and reduce bias in daily interactions

Through practical exercises, reflection, and discussion, participants learn how to spot their own blind spots, make fairer decisions, and create more inclusive research environments. (https://iris-wangermann.de/)
